Planning Your Diet

Everyone makes plans for everything that they do. We're all extremely busy, and without plans our lives would fall apart. It may seem like planning every aspect of your life is going a little over the top, however some things do require planning.

I can never understand why some people do not plan their diets. We really do plan everything, we even plan when we will have sex.

It only takes a few minutes to work out what you will eat each day. If you have got enough time to read this, then you have certainly got enough time to plan your diet. Just follow our seven super simple steps. It is not boring, so keep your eyes open!

1. Mini meals are great.

Mini meal People that have a certain disease are advised to eat several small meals a day, rather than a couple of large ones. They suggest that they should try to eat something every 2 hours. It's by no means difficult to do that, you can start eating something every four hours, and then cut down the time.

These smaller meals should be the same as your other meals (although smaller) make sure you get your protein and fibre intake. Also eat plenty of fruit and vegetables to make sure you get all the nutrients you need. Whatever you do, don't eat fast food for your mini meals.

By reducing the time in between your meal times you should be able to reduce the hunger cravings that you get. This should also help to cut down on the temptation you have to snack throughout the day.

2. Don't go over board.

You should set an amount that you want to reduce. If you want to reduce the size of your meals by 10% then try to stick to it. You do not need to use a calculator to make sure everything is accurate, just guesstimate.

By now you should already be aware how many calories are contained in certain things. When you eat use your mind, rather than your eyes to decide what you will eat.

3. Eat good tasting food.

We all need a bit of encouragement sometimes, so eat something that you know you should not really eat. If you eat it anyway you will get the urge out of your system.

If you do not eat it then you probably will anyway, and you will ruin your diet. It is better to have the occasional nibble on something rather than eating it all the day.

4. Eat your calories, don't drink them.

You should not drink a lot of fizzy drinks as these contain a lot of calories. Just a few drinks really will pile on the weight.

5. Exercise.

Everyone needs to exercise in order to keep fit. You are no different. Exercise will not only keep your body in good shape, it will also keep your mind in tip top condition. If you get depressed then chances are you will eat a lot of fatty foods. Getting fat will make you even more depressed, and so you will eat more. It is a vicious circle.

6. Make your meals last.

You should chew your food, do not just scoff it down your trap. Eat it slowly and enjoy how it tastes. This will make you (and your body) realise that you just ate a meal. If you just swallow it without chewing you will probably still feel hungry.

7. Discover your food triggers.

Everyone has triggers that make them want to eat something. Maybe when you see a bag of cookies you just have to eat them. When you are aware of what triggers you to be hungry you can avoid them.

See, that was not so bad was it?! Diets do not have to be scary, just make your diet plan simple and easy. You need a plan before you do anything with your diet.
