Fast Food

Everyone loves fast food, whether you like tacos or burgers you're certainly not alone. Fast food has become the diet of choice for a large number of people. Some crazy people eat fast food for every meal in the day, I'm sorry but I think I would get sick of it if I ate it that often.


Some people don't realise the difference between a steak and a big Mac, which is amazing. I didn't eat much fast food when I was a kid. I think that's why I'm not completely obsessed with it now, saying that I do still enjoy the odd bucket of fried chicken. The ready meals are just as bad as fast food, have you ever seen how much salt is contained in those things? There shouldn't be any need for either of these things on a regular basis.


Fast FoodI have actually eaten quite a lot of fast food. I actually used to spend quite a lot of time working away, and so fast food was the only thing I could eat that I knew what I was getting. Restaurants are nicer, but finding a good restaurant is difficult. All fast food joints are basically the same.


There are actually some things that you can buy from fast food outlets that are quite healthy.

That is not saying that these things are better for you than a proper home cooked meal, but they are still pretty good.


If you are intent on ordering a burger then make sure you do not have any mayonnaise or cheese. This will cut down on a lot of fat that is in your burger. If you need mayo to make the burger more moist then use ketchup or mustard instead.


Eating fast foodThe cheese they use on burgers is the processed horrible stuff. I like to refer to it as plastic cheese. Not all cheese is made of milk, some of it is actually made out of cooking oil. You can normally tell just by looking at the cheese.


Cheese made from oil normally looks different, it looks like plastic! Orange and oily. Do not have anything that has any bacon, bacon in fast food joints is horrible. They heat it under lights rather than cooking it.


You should steer clear of any sandwiches that are deep fried. Ones that have fried fish or chicken inside them for example. Deep frying makes these things much worse for your health. Go with chicken on a sandwich wherever possible. Chicken is naturally low in fat, just avoid chicken mayo sandwiches or deep fried chicken. Take a look at all of the different burgers you can choose.


Lose weight whilst you eat


You should also avoid eating French fries, instead order a side salad. Everyone likes fries, but they are very bad for you. If you just eat fast food occasionally then perhaps you can get away with eating French fries, if however you are more addicted to it then you should avoid eating so many French fries.


Meatless burgers seem quite popular at a number of fast food joints. Perhaps this is because there are more people that are vegetarian, but it could be due to people caring much more about animals. College kids seem to not like eating meat.


If they do have meatless burgers then you could try them. Sometimes these burgers do have less fat than normal burgers. They are quite different to your regular burger and so it might take some getting used to. Some of these burgers are not actually any lower in fat.


I like to go to a sub shop rather than a traditional fast food chain. You can put anything on your sandwich, it does not have to be loaded with fat and calories.


Sub shops like Subway make all the nutritional information about the food they serve readily available. You can see how much fat the sandwiches contain at a glance.


The best way to reduce calorie intake when eating fast food is to drink water or diet soft drinks if you have to. If you like you could squirt some lemon into the water.
